This brilliant pair of Mid-Century Modernist Articulating Wall Sconces in Polished Brass by George W. Hansen for Metalarte originate from Spain, Circa 1970. Featuring a beautiful geometric construction in polished brass with two cylindrical hinged joints allowing for the sconces to extend outwards from the wall, these pieces are versatile in their styling and usage for illumination. Perfect for reading nooks or bedside use, their beautiful materiality and well scaled proportions makes them a brilliant addition for those who appreciate the best of 20th Century design. George W. Hansen is a designer made famous by perfecting the swing arm design in his pieces, first utilizing the mechanism during his service in WWII to create a reading lamp for his bedside, then carrying it forward as a motif well used and cherished by designers through the decades. These sconces will style beautifully in a wide array of interiors and settings, from Mid-Century Modern to Contemporary and Minimal spaces. Newly rewired to American Standards, this pair is in Excellent Vintage Condition.
