Description
Greta Magnusson Grossman 'Grasshopper' Floor Lamp in Matte Black for GUBI.
Designed in 1947 by Grossman, this is an authorized re-edition by GUBI of Denmark-- a meticulous reproduction of her work with scrupulous attention to detail and materials that are faithful to the original specifications. The 'Grasshopper' floor lamp is executed in powder-coated tubular steel frame, aluminum shade, and solid brass hardware.
Designer and architect Greta Magnusson Grossman first gained fame in her native Sweden, where she established her store and workshop and was the first woman to earn a prize for furniture design from the Swedish Society of Industrial Design. In 1940, she married jazz musician Billy Grossman and moved to Los Angeles, where she opened the Magnusson Grossman Studio on Rodeo Drive and rapidly became popular among the Hollywood elite. Combining her Scandinavian roots with laid-back West Coast style, Magnusson Grossman became a notable contributor to California modernism. -
