Large Italian Vintage Guido Gambone Ceramic Table Lamp
-
Description
A large Italian ceramic table lamp designed and made by Guido Gambone (1909-1969), an Italian ceramic artist based in Florence, circa 1950s. The stoneware lamp base is of a long-neck bottle shape and impressive size. The surface is decorated with yellow and black geometrical knotted pattern over a white glazed background with even crackling effect. The body of the bottle has a subtly concaved design on four facades as well as on the shoulder, rendering the piece a distinctive look. The lamp is mounted on a conforming wood block base, and it comes with a fabric shade. The bottom is marked with the donkey insignia and also inscription "Gambone" and "Italy". Based on the form and the shape of the mouth opening, it appears that this piece was originally made as a lamp base instead of an adaptation.
The lamp is rewired and is ready to be enjoyed.
The shade is 22" in diameter while ceramic lamp base itself is 19" h x 7.25" diameter. -
