A mid-century modern ceiling lamp, model 51132, by Gunnel Nyman for Idman. This model combines clean, modern lines with the classical style of a pleated shade, making it suitable for both contemporary and traditional interiors. The chandelier’s brass body is in its original condition, with a beautiful patina and a lacquer finish. The lamp is unmarked but can be found in the Idman catalogue under this model number.

Gunnel Nyman (1909–1948) was a Finnish glass, furniture, and metal artist, and one of the founders of modern Finnish glass design. she was also a prominent figure in the Finnish modern design movement of the early 20th century. Her innovative approach and craftsmanship significantly influenced Finnish design. Unfortunately, due to her premature death at 39, she left behind a legacy of numerous beautiful creations and a sense of wonder about what she might have achieved with a longer career.
