Description
An original vintage "Elephant Boot" lounge chair designed by Eero Aarnio and manufactured by Asko in the 1960s in Finland. Pragmatic yet playful, this iconic design continues to be a hit amongst design lovers. Suitable for any interior as well as any outside setting such as a patio, terrace, garden etc.. The overall condition is good with signs of use and some minor flaws, such as really small broken pieces of rattan (please refer to pictures for better understanding). Please note this is the old vintage version and not the new edition available on the market.
Eero Aarnio, born in 1932, is a Finnish designer and professor who is considered by many as one of the pioneers and innovators in modern furniture design. Aarnio experimented and used a wide variety of materials such as plastic and fiberglass. He has created quite a few classics in Finnish modern designs such as the Ball chair, Bubble chair and Pastille, most of these designed in the 1960s. Aarnio's works can be found in a number of prestigious museums such as the MoMa N.Y. and Victoria and Albert Hall in London. Aarnio has also won a number of prestigious design awards such as the Red Hot Design award. -
