Description
With a legacy spanning over seven decades, Hans-Agne Jakobsson redefined modern design by seamlessly blending form and function. His designs’ unique quality lies in effortlessly infusing Scandinavian simplicity with a touch of innovation, resulting in pieces that stranscend time, like this set of three table lamps.
While Jakobsson designed and produced various types of furniture, his lighting received greater international attention - and not without good reason, as these lamps showcase. The craftsmanship involved in creating this set is evident in the seamless construction and attention to detail, with no visible joints or interruptions in the design’s flow. The lamps’ bodies are meticulously crafted from blackened wood, showcasing the material’s smooth quality. The wooden base of the model is designed to provide stability, while still maintaining an overall sleek aesthetic. The dark tones and smooth surface evoke visual interest, while the soft glow of the light-coloured shades allow for a warm, inviting atmosphere in any room. True to Hans-Agne Jakobsson’s design vision, this lamp model utilises its quality materials to create a soft quality of light. This set was created at his own famed workshop in Markaryd in Sweden where the designer and cabinetmaker gave shape to most of his era-defining creations.
These lamps represent a marriage of form and function, a hallmark of Swedish mid-century modern design. Hans-Agne Jakobsson's legacy endures through pieces like these – timeless examples of how simplicity, combined with thoughtful craftsmanship, can result in pieces that go beyond their utilitarian purpose.
