Model "A 6265" Brass Table Lamp by Hans Bergström (Attr.) for ASEA, Sweden 1950s

Hans Bergström’s designs are just as scarce today as the information available on the Swedish designer, despite his undeniable quality of output. Guided by the mantra, “Light must be white and shine freely,” he designed and produced functional and modern fixtures that were intended to brighten up entire spaces. Bergström had a modernist approach based on quality and architectural precision, and was the favourite lighting designer of many fellow architects, among them Bruno Mathsson.

The design of this model focuses on a slender brass stem rising from a compact tripod base. The minimal structure allows the eye to move effortlessly upward toward the shade, which becomes a key feature of the design. The fabric shade introduces a juxtaposition against the slim stem. This detail adds a sense of architectural structure, while also shaping the light into a warm, diffused glow. The contrast between the smooth, reflective brass and the textured shade of creates a quiet interplay of materials. Despite its simplicity, the proportions are carefully judged, ensuring that all elements work together. The piece is particularly adaptable, capable of blending into a range of interiors while still offering a refined point of interest.

Condition:
In good vintage condition. Wear consistent with age and use. The lamp has recently been rewired. The shade is a later replacement. Due to the nature and age of the brass, the item may have some marks, scratches, and discolouration. This table lamp is compatible with an E26 / E27 standard fitting. All lighting can be converted for US usage.
