Description
These directional reading sconces were mounted on the wall above and to the side the of the seated passengers of the 20th Century Limited. Henry Dreyfuss re-designed both the exterior and interior in 1938, of the 20th Century Limited, one of the most famous of the Streamline Trains The magnifying convex globe directed the light downward over the shoulder for reading. Today this application also makes them perfect for either side of the bed as directional reading lights. They have on/off levers at the bottom of each sconce. Henry Dreyfuss was one of America’s foremost modern industrial designers. Starting in 1929 when Henry Dreyfuss opened his own studio until 1969 when he retired, his modernist designs touched every aspect of the American public.
