Itsu was a Finnish lighting manufacturer active during the mid-20th century, a period when Finnish design gained international recognition for its balance of craftsmanship, material sensitivity, and modern form. Working within the context of Scandinavian modernism, Itsu’s designs reflected the era’s focus on warmth, practicality, and refined simplicity. Finnish lighting from this period often combined natural materials with brass and glass, creating objects that feel both modern and inviting.

This model “EV-47” table lamp is a strong example of this approach, combining elegant proportions with rich material contrast. The lamp features a curved, sculptural wooden stem, resting on a circular brass base that adds visual weight and stability. Perhaps the most eye- catching detail is the brass spiral that acts almost like a belt, hugging the stem. The brass elements provide a refined counterpoint to the organic wood.
