Large JT Kalmar Ice Pendant in Frosted Glass and Chrome, Austria 1960s

A striking chandelier by J.T. Kalmar, produced in Austria in the 1960s. This model features thick, textured glass elements arranged in layered tiers around a chrome-plated metal structure. The individually cast glass pieces create a sculptural, ice-like surface that diffuses light beautifully while retaining a strong architectural presence.

The chandelier is suspended from a polished metal rod system constructed in modular 15 cm sections, allowing the total drop to be easily adjusted from approximately 100 cm to 85, 70, or 55 cm. This makes the fixture adaptable to a wide range of ceiling heights and interior settings.

This chandelier works equally well in mid-century modern, Scandinavian, and contemporary interiors, whether placed above a dining table, in an entry hall, or as a central statement in a living space. The generous scale and crystalline glass bring both warmth and visual depth, while the clean metal structure keeps the overall expression refined and timeless. The lamp is quite heavy.
