Description
This iconic UFO-shaped ceiling pendant designed by Lisa Johansson-Pape, was highly popular in 1950s in Finland and remains a sought-after piece today. Found in both public buildings and private residences, its timeless design blends functionality with elegant simplicity.
The lamp features a sleek brass stem and body, crowned with a softly diffusing opaline glass shade. The removable natural white metal shade adds versatility and playfulness, allowing for adjustable lighting to suit any space. The interior and the shade are both stamped, confirming its authenticity.
Lisa Johansson-Pape (1907–1989) was a pioneering Finnish designer celebrated for her lighting and furniture. A functionalist at heart, she prioritized a lamp’s purpose before its aesthetics, resulting in designs that are as practical as they are beautiful. After designing furniture for Stockmann, she focused on lighting for Orno Oy (a Stockmann-owned company), earning international acclaim—including multiple medals at the Milan Triennials in the 1950s.
This lamp is a testament to her enduring influence in Scandinavian mid-century design. A rare and functional piece for collectors and design aficionados alike. -
