Lisa-Johansson Pape Pendant in Brass, Birch, Rattan, & Glass Flowers, Orno 1950s
-
Description
A beautiful and early Lisa Johansson-Pape ceiling pendant with a wooden birch center and three brass arms and rattan shades. The center has also removable glass flower decorations.
The pendant is an absolute beauty from the 1940s era when Lisa Johansson-Papé used more wood in her designs during and just after the war. The lamp is in good original condition except for the shades that are of a latter date. The lamp is stamped Orno.
Lisa Johansson-Pape (1907-1989) was a Finnish designer best known for her works in lightings. She paid more attention to the function of the lamp firstly, then the design feature secondly. Lisa designed furniture for Stockmann for a number of years, after which she turned her attention to lamps, also at the Stockmann owned company Orno Oy. She won a number of medals for her lighting designs in the Milan Triennials in the 1950s. -
