A characterful mid-century table lamp in wrought iron with a shade in woven rattan and wood. Europe, mid 20th century.

Forged from wrought iron this table lamp features a twisted stem rising from a distinctive four-legged base. The sculptural twisted stem provides a subtle vertical rhythm, while the woven shade softens the overall appearance with warmth and texture. The visible hammer marks, subtle irregularities and rich dark patina show craftsmanship.

The shade is handcrafted from woven rattan and thin wooden splints, creating a basket-like structure that filters the light beautifully. When illuminated, the open weave produces a warm, atmospheric glow.

Rather than relying on ornament, the design finds its appeal in honest construction, tactile surfaces and the dialogue between metal and organic materials. This lamp would be equally at home in a country interior, a mountain chalet, or a carefully curated contemporary space where natural materials take centre stage.

It comes in a good and original condition with slight wear due to age and use - most notably on the shade, as can be seen in the photos.
