Description
French Art Deco Chandelier by Muller Frères, Luneville
This exquisite French Art Deco chandelier, signed by Muller Frères Luneville, captures the refined elegance of 1930s design. The fixture is composed of four frosted and pressed glass shades, each delicately decorated with floral motifs, and finished in a rare peach-pink hue. The centerpiece bowl and matching shades are supported by a nickel-plated metal frame, creating a harmonious blend of light, texture, and craftsmanship.
The Muller family of glassmakers, based in Luneville, France, achieved international success in the early 20th century alongside contemporaries such as Daum and Schneider. Known for their mastery in pâte de verre and pressed glass, Muller Frères specialized in richly decorated glass lighting that defined the Art Deco era. Their innovative designs and technical brilliance earned them acclaim at the 1925 Paris Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs, solidifying their reputation as one of France’s foremost glassmakers.
Each pink glass is among the rarer colorations produced by Muller Frères, making this chandelier particularly desirable to collectors and connoisseurs. Its floral decoration, executed with crisp detail, reflects both the naturalistic inspiration and the modernist lines of Art Deco lighting. With its original nickel-plated frame and signed glass shades, this chandelier is a distinguished example of French decorative arts from the 1930s.
Muller Frères chandeliers in peach-pink glass are highly sought after and seldom appear on the market. This piece not only represents the exceptional artistry of Luneville glassmaking but also embodies the period’s embrace of both luxury and modern design. Its condition, signature, and rare coloration make it a standout addition for serious collectors of Art Deco lighting. - More Information
