Description
The beauty of 20th century lighting design lies in its form and the modern sleek finish it adds to a space. The 20th century period brought about a revolution in design throughout Europe, where function and form merged in the most intriguing ways. One such example of this era’s creativity is this floor lamp.
The design of this lamp is characterised by its unique shape and stylish materials: the body is composed of brass, which was the preferred material for the most floor lamps of the era as it is enduring and - as this lamp shows - develops a beautiful patina over time, which is complemented by a light-coloured fabric shade. The neck’s curve holding the fabric shade is eye-catching, to counterbalance the defined curve, the rod is straight and stands on a circular base that mirrors the shape of the shade. The choice of materials and shape of the design truly highlight the aesthetic of modernism. The light, when diffused casts a warm and inviting glow, creating an ambiance that is both timeless and comforting.
This floor lamp displays streamlined modernism accompanied by a functional, timeless design and subtle decorative elements. It is a piece that is sure to fit into an array of interior styles.
