Description
In line with Scandinavian design choices, this Danish table lamp by Annelise Linnemann-Schmidt highlights the movement’s use of exquisite materials, shapes and textures in order to create an elegant and practical piece. The natural qualities of the stoneware, combined with the uniquely shaped body and design, transform this table lamp model into an exceptional example of Danish talent and craftsmanship.
This table lamp’s structure showcases a cylindrical body with a shorter neck that ends with an oval empire shade. It is decorated with distinctive geometric elements on the body, displaying a checked pattern. The lamp has a particularly lovely glaze, thick, deep, and full of colour nuances. The glossy body displays blue and turquoise tones which highlight Linnemann-Schmidt’s artistic touch. With its playful design and intriguing glazing technique the table lamp provides plenty of visual interest. The tapered neck is gently rounded, providing the perfect support for the shade. The empire shade is covered by a light fabric, completing the piece and giving a warm, inviting light to it. A balance between softness and structure characterise this lamp, the sturdy stone body being softened by the pleasant warm light, creating exquisite harmony. The overall aesthetic is essentially Nordic modern thanks to the combination of interesting material choices and a design that feels organic and natural.
Surpassing the strict functionality many designers were concerned with, this model is a whimsical representation of the innovative experimentation in Danish lighting design. The craftsmanship involved in creating this piece is evident in the seamless construction and attention to detail, and allows it to become the perfect addition to a range of interior styles.
