Description
Rare and important “Male and Female Torso” table lamps in Hydro Stone plaster on patinated bronze bases by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne, American 1970's (signed "PK LaVerne" on both bases). These table lamps have been finished with a patina that makes them look like excavated sculptures and are very impressive. As many of the LaVerne's pieces reference historical civilizations, these reference ancient Greek and Roman sculptures. New custom shades provided by Lobel Modern. These have been newly rewired with new bronze sockets and silk cord. There is a switch on the back of each lamp which turns both sockets on and off at the same time.
Reference:
ALCHEMY: THE ART OF PHILIP AND KELVIN LAVERNE written by Evan Lobel with Kelvin LaVerne, published by Pointed Leaf Press in 2024, these lamps are shown on pages 231 in the section titled Other Materials . The caption reads, “MALE AND FEMALE TORSO table lamps in Hydro-Stone plaster that have been patinated by hand to resemble ancient sculptures with patinated bronze bases were created in the 1970s.
