Description
Striking René Lalique Art Deco pendant chandelier in thick moulded and frosted glass, conceived as an inverted circular bowl with a dramatic stalactite‑like relief. The opalescent satin‑finished shade flares gently at the rim and drops into a domed center, from which a continuous ring of elongated, tapering icicle forms descends, each finely modelled with feathered, flame‑like details that read as sculptural, organic volumes when lit. Viewed from below, the underside becomes a glowing landscape of glass “stalactites,” animated by the play of light and shadow.
The shade is suspended on four fabric‑wrapped cords, gathered in a tight knot and spreading outward to patinated metal mounts at the rim. A matching moulded‑glass canopy with radiating flutes in a stylised shell or palmette motif anchors the chandelier to the ceiling and echoes the vertical rhythm of the bowl. The glass bears the integral moulded signature “R. Lalique” to the underside, consistent with René Lalique’s interwar production.
