Swedish Näversöm Embroidered Wall Sconce, 1960s/70s

$ 850
  • Description
    I love these Swedish textile lights for their combination of serious handwork and very simple forms, a wonderful example of the Scandinavian love of combining traditional handcraft with modern interiors. The näversöm shade creates an intricate geometric openwork pattern, the embroidery is layered over a fabric lining which gives the light a soft glow when illuminated. Ultra cozy!

    8" W x 3" D x 10.25" H. E14 Bulb, US plug. Local switch can be added upon request.

    Näversöm has roots in Swedish folk embroidery, particularly in the textile traditions of Hälsingland, and enjoyed a revival as a decorative craft during the mid-20th century. By the 1960s and 70s, the technique was being used for lampshades, wall lights and other objects for the home.
