Description
A large chandelier by Venini, created in 1964 to illuminate one of the dining rooms of the Grand Hotel Ambasciatori in Turin.
The chandelier is featured in the catalog of the major exhibition dedicated to Venini a few years ago at the Fondazione Cini/Pentagram-Le Stanze del Vetro in Venice.
The chandelier is part of a series of extremely versatile lighting systems designed by Venini (also in collaboration with Carlo Scarpa) starting in the late 1950s. Simple, easily reproducible glass elements (polyhedrons, cylindrical rods as in this case, ribbons, trihedrons) were produced in large numbers in colored or clear glass and assembled on very simple metal structures, adaptable to the most diverse needs of space, height, and volume. -
