Pair of Mania Wall Sconces by Vico Magistretti for Artemide

$ 3,400
  • Description
    A rare and striking pair of Mania wall sconces designed by Vico Magistretti for Artemide, Italy. These sculptural fixtures exemplify Magistretti's mastery of reducing form to essential geometry while creating warm, atmospheric light.

    Each sconce is composed of a domed upper shade suspended over a rounded lower diffuser, forming a clean intersecting silhouette reminiscent of two offset hemispheres. When illuminated, light escapes through the horizontal opening to create a soft halo effect, giving the fixture an elegant floating presence on the wall.

    Minimal yet expressive, the Mania model reflects the sophisticated experimentation of Italian modern design in the 1970s.

    Vico Magistretti (1920–2006) was among the most influential figures in postwar Italian design. Based in Milan, he developed a body of work distinguished by elegant simplicity, functional intelligence, and enduring modernity.
    Collaborating with leading firms such as Artemide, Cassina, Kartell, De Padova, and Oluce, Magistretti created some of the most iconic furniture and lighting of the twentieth century. His designs are celebrated for transforming everyday objects into timeless sculptural forms through restraint and clarity.
    Today, his original vintage works remain highly collectible and are represented in major international museum collections.
