Description
This Italian table lamp, produced by the glassmaker Vistosi, consists of two distinct hand-blown Murano glass components. The structural base is formed by a glossy orange cylindrical vessel with a recessed upper rim that holds a large opal glass sphere. When illuminated, the inner white globe diffuses light through the orange exterior, creating a dual-toned ambient glow characteristic of 1960s Space Age design. The piece retains its original "Vistosi" manufacturer label, ensuring its provenance.
Vistosi is a historic Murano glasshouse that gained international acclaim in the mid-20th century for modernizing traditional Venetian techniques. Under the artistic direction of Gino Vistosi, the company collaborated with prominent architects and designers to create minimalist, geometric forms that utilized the interplay of color and light. -
