19th Century Biedermeier Wall Mirror, Ash/ Burr Walnut - Bohemia ca. 1860
-
Description
Extraordinary crafted 19th century wall mirror from the so-called "second Biedermeier" era around 1860 in Bohemia (Czech Republic). This pretty large Biedermeier mirror (48.8" x 41.3") impresses with its unique form language: the artfully designed, broad frame has been veneered with thick ash wood and shows a fanastic looking grain. The inlayed burr walnut fields create a great contrast and have all been additionally framed by delicate, ebonized wooden threads. This one of a kind Biedermeier wall mirror comes in great original, cleaned condition and provides the still original mirror plate with some aging spots and slight scratches. The backside is closed with the original wooden boards. A massive hand-forged metal ring on the backside makes wall mounting safe & easy. A true gem and rare example of a late 19th century Biedermeier mirror.
