19th Century Silvered/ Bronzed Venetian Wall Mirror, Handcarved, Italy ca. 1840
-
Description
Large, fantastic designed mid 19th century Italian wall mirror from the period around 1840 in Venice. This elaborately open worked mirror was part of the inventory of a very old urban villa in the center of the famous lagoon town. Showing a beautiful floral theme, this outstanding antique venetian mirror impresses with its many finely handcarved details. The extraordinary bronzed/ gilt surface shows a stunning old patina. Parts of the frame has been silverplated but most of these parts are almost abraded (you can still see rests of the overlapping silver leaves - picture #19) which doesn´t affect the mirror´s beauty in any way, much more it confers this mirror this absolutely unique and amazing charme. The old mirror plate is almost blind, shows aging spots and discolorations but we haven´t renewed the plate since (as we think) it fits so perfectly. But we would gladly renew the mirror upon you request for a small additional charge - just get in touch with us.
