17th Century Renaissance Nutwood Armchair, Handcarved, Austria ca. 1680

$ 2,990
  • Description
    Unique late 17th century Renaissance armchair out of an Austrian monastery from the period around 1680. Elaborately handcarved out of walnut and standing solid on square, cross-braced legs, this fantastic looking high-backed chair comes with a broad, rectangular seat, upholstered with old red linen (added in the early 19th century). Artfully, richly carved on the front and decorated with inlaid rectangular maple panels, this old restored Renaissance armchair shows a beautiful dark brown surface with a charming patina. Extraordinary carved elements on top of the backrest complete the magnificent appearance of this unique 17th century Renaissance armchair, which has been in the possession by the family of the former owner since the late 18th century. A rare, exceptional piece of late Renaissance furniture, which would look absolutely gorgeous for example in a restored farmhouse or an old stonehouse/ country house....
