French 19th Century Oak Louis XVI Style Marquise Armchair

A Louis XVI style fauteuil from the 19th century in scaled-up proportions known as a “marquise” for accommodating a lady’s voluminous skirt. This example features timeless sophistication, beautiful lines, and restrained ornamentation that allows the gorgeous yellow-gold worn velvet upholstery to shine. Overall the upholstery is in good condition with some areas of wear, as seen in the detailed images; down feather in the removable seat cushion is still quite firm and comfortable to read or relax. Fluted carvings in the oak frame, stained to a dark mahogany tone, are carried down through the tapered legs. The wood has been gently cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, ready for your interior. Please view the detailed images as they are an important part of the product description.
