This sculptural armchair was designed by by Jacques Chambron and Robert Guillerme in the 1950s. It was produced by their company Votre Maison in Northern France. This chair stands out as one of the most original and rare designs by the French duo.
The chair is made of solid oak wood, the preferred material of Guillerme et Chambron for almost all their designs. The model is marked by the tapered, vertical lines of the frame and the striking back rest, consisting of three hand carved slats. The armrests have a distinct curved shape, each supported by three slats. The loose cushion is in a playful blue and teal toned velvet with an abstract animal print. The specific woodworking, joinery and the attention to even the smallest detail make this chair a great example of the originality and craftsmanship of Guillerme et Chambrons early work.
The piece has been restored, respecting and preserving the original patina of the oak wood. Overall in very good condition with minor marks and wear consistent with previous use. The loose cushion has been renewed and reupholstered.
