Description
This striking set of six dining chairs was designed by Henning (Henry) Kjærnulf in the 1960s and produced by Nyrup Møbelfabrik in Denmark. Representing a rarer upholstered-back variant within Kjærnulf’s oak “Razorblade” designs, the chairs are marked with the manufacturer’s sticker on the underside of the seats.
Crafted from solid oak, the frames display a beautiful grain and warm, rich coloration. The chairs are distinguished by gently rounded back stiles, scalloped aprons, and subtly carved details throughout the legs and stretchers. The tall backrests are fully upholstered, softening the architectural character of the oak frame while enhancing both comfort and visual presence. Brass nailhead trim outlines the upholstery, providing a crisp contrast against the wood and fabric.
The chairs are in good overall condition. The wood has been carefully restored while retaining its original patina. The chairs retain their original striped wool upholstery, showing signs of wear consistent with age, including stains and marks. Reupholstery is recommended. -
