Eben Blaney
Eben Blaney designs and builds handmade contemporary furniture. His pieces tend toward the spare, combining bold, elegant forms with finely joined, dynamic and angular structures. He uses color and a wide variety of finishes selectively, to both set off and complement the beautiful natural hardwoods and create distinctive compositions.
Blaney grew up around traditional wooden boatbuilding and after working his way through several high-end custom cabinet and furniture shops in the Northeast and Northwest U.S. , he established his own business in 2000 and shortly thereafter built his present studio and showroom in mid-coast Maine. Drawing from a broad background of art and woodworking, his influences are numerous. He builds on both a speculative and commission basis and exhibits his work at such shows as The Smithsonian and Philadelphia Museum of Art fine contemporary craft shows.
