1950s Jean Prouve SCAL Daybed, Model n450

    1950's Jean Prouvé SCAL daybed, model no. 450. Black lacquered metal frame in original condition. New cushion and bolster pillow.

    The beds were used in the dormitories for the Société Centrale des Alliages Légers, an aluminum processing plant for which Prouvé and Pierre Jeanneret designed prefabricated pavilions and functional furniture starting around 1939. After 1953 the beds were manufactured by Aterlier Jean Prouvé and distributed by Steph Simon Gallery.

    Black frame has not been repainted which is unusual for original Prouve pieces.
