Description
Originally designed by Marco Zanuso in 1947 for a competition sponsored by the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Maggiolina lounge chair has gone on to become a design icon and has been manufactured by Zanotta since 1972.
A fantastic example of early mid century Italian design, the chair went on to win the gold medal at the Milan Triennale in 1948.
Constructed from a slim polished tubular steel frame, the chair features a black leather sling which holds the back and seat cushions, both upholstered in contrasting brown leather.
The loose cushions are upholstered in beautiful off white suede. The metal structure was plated and is in excellent shape.
This Maggiolina lounge chair and footstool would add a touch of classic Italian design to any contemporary living space. -
