Pair French Empire-Style Barrel Back Bergeres, c. 1930-1940
-
Description
This is an exceptional pair of early twentieth century French Empire Bergeres. The walnut frames are beautifully detailed in carved swan elements, as well as with traditional Empire star and medallion motifs. Barrel back chairs of this form are uncommon, highly desirable and a true find. The chairs are newly upholstered in a high-end textured linen and wool blend. Both chairs are in overall very good condition with a couple of old professional restorations. The upholstery fabric is a "tweedy" linen wool blend in a French gray-blue. The video coloration is a bit washed out; and the second, third and subsequent photos are more true to the actual color.
