Sculptural Armchair in Pine -and Plywood by Eberhard Muéller, Germany 1980s
-
Description
Designed by German architect Eberhard Muéller, this wooden chair exemplifies his fusion of function and form. Known for integrating modernist principles into everyday objects, Müller uses natural materials to create both practical and sculptural designs.
Design
The chair is primarily constructed from pine wood, with a sleek, upright frame and fluid, organic lines. Its extended backrest curves gently at the top, while the armrests bend inwards, enhancing the flowing design. A striking circular element at head height, possibly intended for an easy way off moving the chair around, adds an artistic touch. The seating area is made from plywood, subtly curved for comfort yet maintaining the clean, geometric look. Although there are some ornaments to be seen for instance on the armrests. Müller’s design reflects an architectural approach to furniture, balancing bold shapes with the warmth of wood. The chair stands out as both a functional piece and a statement of design, combining modernity and craftsmanship in a distinctive way.
Condition
The condition of the chair is very good. -
