Description
Two sculptural chairs in rusted metal by Laurent Mollon. Laurent Mollon’s sculptural chairs, designed and produced in 2016, are a striking example of form meeting function where aesthetics take precedence. Made from rusted metal, these pieces are more about visual impact than comfort, offering a unique take on the idea of furniture as art. One of the chairs is signed by engraving, reinforcing their status as limited, artistic creations.
Design
Each chair in the set has a single armrest, creating left and right versions. The design features rusted metal panels cut and layered in an abstract, geometric pattern. This fragmented structure introduces a dynamic interplay of light and shadow, giving the pieces an architectural presence. While their bold, industrial aesthetic dominates, the rigid material and angular design make them more suited for display than everyday use. A protective coating ensures that the rusted texture doesn’t rub off or stain, offering a practical touch without compromising the raw, unfinished look. These chairs are an expression of Mollon’s ability to turn furniture into art. Rather than focusing on comfort, they serve as conversation pieces, highlighting the sculptural potential of everyday objects. Their industrial materials and bold design make them perfect for spaces where form is valued over function.
Condition
The condition of these pieces is very good. - More Information
