Description
Lounge chairs model “Zinzolo” by Vittorio Varo for Plan. With the so-called “Zinzolo” project for Plan in the sixties, the Italian designer Vittorio Varo took a radically different direction from what people expected from a lounge chair. The design incorporates a modern conception of seating comfort and is at odds with the classic due to its futuristic character and space-age-like looks.Basically there are two separate lounge chairs that have an armrest on one right side and one on the left side that protrudes from under the chair with an arc. So they can also be transformed into a sofa if desired. The sloping and bulky shapes are created by a wooden frame that is richly filled with foam that provides a particularly pleasant seating comfort. The legs are formed by two metal brackets with rubber bumpers at the ends. You can actually only see this just sticking out at the back of the seats. Very subtle. The original warm chocolate brown leather has been fully restored and exudes luxury and quality. The leather can be removed from the frame with zippers. What is striking is that everything is double stitched on the edges and seams of both the armrests and the seating area. Pure craftsmanship combined with a contemporary and completely free take on the design of that time by Vittorio Varo. The vintage status of these chairs has not detracted from the graceful way in which they have stood the test of time. Needless to say they are therefore in very good condition."
