19th Century Biedermeier Chest of Drawers/ Secretary, Nutwood, AT ca. 1830

Absolutely outstanding 19th century nutwood chest of drawers/ secretary from the early Biedermeier era in Austria around 1830. Impressing with an absolute amazing looking grain which runs down from top to bottom without any interruption, this perfectly restored four drawer commode/ secretary is a true transformer. Three big drawers provide a lot of storage room. The highlight builds the fold-out top drawer which turns this chest into a fully functional writing desk by just opening and unlocking the fold down cherrywood veneered writing surface (pic #4). Four small drawers in the back, all veneered with fine cherry wood and inlayed ebonized "diamonds" elements as well as an additional compartment in the middle make you feel sitting in front of real writing desk. Artfully made brass fittings in the form of flowers and a traditional hand-polished shellac finish completes the incredible look of this remarkable masterpiece of an early 19th century Biedermeier writing commode/ secretary.
