Elegant 19th century gilt wall mirror from the rfamous so-called "second Biedermeier" period in Austria. This beautiful antique mirror has been elaborately handcarved around 1860 and impresses with its detailed framework showing artfully created floral designs adorned by delicate tendrils and flowers. This fantatstic looking masterpiece of a late Biedermeier mirror comes with a partly bronzed and partly gold leaf plated surfaces. You can see the overlapping of the different gold leaves as well as the red so-called "bolus" (= primer for gilding) partly shining through which confers this amazing Biedermeier mirror a really unqiue and noble charme. The mirror glass has been renewed during the cleaning/restoration process. On the backside you have a small ring which makes wall mounting easy.
