Description
High-quality early Biedermeier Roll-top or Cylinder Secretaire or Writing Cabinet from South Germany around 1820.
Very thick cherrywood saw veneer on softwood and solid cherrywood. Ebonized strips and decorative elements. At the top a circumferential railing with ebonized rungs.
Large ink painting in the center of the roll flap and original painting around the fittings and edges. Below two drawers with great original brass fittings depicting finely worked faces.
In the lower drawer is a large double locking box lock for both drawers. Pull-out writing tablet covered with black genuine leather (added later).
Conservationally restored, hand-polished with shellac.
