Description
This exceptional cabinet was designed and handcrafted by Bo Lindahl in Sweden. This unique masterpiece was created as a journeyman's piece at the Central Workshop School in Häggvik, Sollentuna, in 1953. The maker has handwritten a brief backstory on the underside of one of the drawers. It is the only example of this cabinet ever made.
The exquisitely crafted design features a square body with double doors and two lower drawers, resting on four tapered legs, connected by side stretchers and a cross stretcher. The entire piece is ornately veneered in a combination of walnut, rosewood, and elm burl. The front doors are adorned with applied raised carvings in an elongated hexagonal pattern, which creates a striking depth and three-dimensionality.
The interior of the cabinet is equally impressive, with six drawers and two shelves, all finished and veneered to a very high standard. The drawers retain their original inserts in deep violet velvet. Brass key and hinges add the finishing touch.
The cabinet is in very good original condition, with minor wear consistent with age and use. A full condition report is available upon request. -
