Description
This extremely rare table/desk lamp was designed by Bertil Brisborg and produced by Nordiska Kompaniet in Sweden in the 1940s. This particular model was numbered 30595 and is documented in the 1943 Nordiska Kompaniet catalogue as well as the Nordiska Kompaniet 1949 archive. The design was also used in the editor's room of Dagens Nyheter, a major Swedish newspaper.
The elegant design consists of a round brass base and a tubular stem wrapped in brown leather. Both the brass and the leather have developed a warm patina over time. The dome-shaped shade is finished in a beautiful green, almost teal-like lacquer with a brass rim. A scalloped brass finial with a petal motif completes the design.
The lamp is in very good, completely original condition. The brass and leather show a natural patina. The shade retains its original lacquer and has some light scratches and minor signs of wear consistent with age and use. Overall the lamp presents very well and is ready for placement.
Currently wired with 220V wiring, the fixture has two light sockets underneath the dome. -
