Description
This highly unique and stunning Art Deco Streamlined Machine Age Sideboard in Burled Walnut & Black Lacquer w/ Aluminum Pulls is by the esteemed designer Donald Deskey for the Hastings Company and originates from the United States, Circa 1935. Features a bullet form profile with gentle curvatures and exquisite materials, a combination of burled and book-matched walnut with gleaming back lacquer and accents of aluminum on the center of the pulls. Radiant and characteristic of the sleek linear qualities and rigorous attention to detail and proportions, this Sideboard features curved cabinet drawers that open outwards revealing interior shelving, as well as three front drawers that have pulls, the top connecting to a raised rectangular element that follows along the entire front the of the piece, then narrowing slightly in the center drawer, and narrowing again towards the bottom drawer, a clever and playful design using geometry and detail to communicate the thought, attention, and brilliant aesthetics for which Donal Deskey is famous. The burled and Book-matched walnut has stunning textural detailing that travels across the fronts of the drawers, hardly interrupted by their seams. Designed by Donald Deskey, a pioneer of Modern Art Deco design in the united states with numerous accolades, most notably the Interior design and Architecture of Radio City Music hall. This sideboard is highly versatile and will style well in a wide array of spaces and settings, from Art Deco to Mid-Century Modernist and Contemporary Interiors. In Mint Restored Condition.
