Description
An early nineteenth-century wall cabinet from Stockholm, showcasing the distinctive craftsmanship and regional character of Swedish furniture from this period. The cabinet has been carefully scraped back to reveal traces of its original painted surface, allowing the underlying wood and historic finish to remain visible. This treatment preserves the piece’s authenticity while highlighting the passage of time and use.
The façade is richly detailed with carved decoration, including an architectural central panel that lends depth and visual interest. Below, a small drawer is fitted with its original iron pull, reinforcing the cabinet’s honest construction and period integrity. The gently arched crest and balanced proportions reflect the restrained decorative language of early nineteenth-century Swedish design.
The surface displays a warm, naturally aged patina consistent with age. Suitable for mounting in a kitchen, hallway, or study, this cabinet offers practical storage while serving as a strong decorative element. Its compact scale and sculptural presence make it an excellent example of early Swedish provincial craftsmanship with enduring appeal.
This is an antique and having been around for a long time, it will show signs of wear. Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions! -
