Description
Dimensions: 37 ½” H x 35 ¼” W x 18 ½” D
An extraordinary 18th century oak chest of drawers, it is of striking color and form to display in any room of the home not limited to clothing storage. The five drawers are finely carved with low-relief acanthus designs that scroll across the fronts, animating the panels with near perfect symmetry. Drawers glide easily using the slender brass drop handles; note the keyhole escutcheons are only decorative without an original key present. Bulbous bun feet elevate the dark case from the floor. Here is an outstanding example of English craft blending with the flourish one might expect of Italian or French furniture of similar age. Cleaned and polished a French paste wax to maintain every historic feature. Please view the detailed images to see the current condition. -
