French 19th Century Petite Commode with Inset Marble Top

Dimensions: 34 ½” H x 32 ¾” W x 17 ¼” D

A gorgeous Louis XVI-style petite commode with inset marble top. The Sainte Anne marble has stunning grey and white inclusions and a smooth, patinated surface. It has been professionally repaired and is securely inset with a surrounding brass gallery. The walnut body has three wide, paneled drawers that open smoothly with rectangular brass bail pulls. The drawers’ locks are intact and in working order with their accompanying key. Framing the drawers are two fluted panels that recall ionic columns, in keeping with the Louis XVI style’s preference for classical motifs. Fluting continues down the four tapered legs of the piece, which are capped with brass sabot feet. Cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, this commode is ready for use in your interiors. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
