French Louis XV Style Carved Cherry Enfilade from Picardie from the 1790s
-
Description
A French Louis XV style carved cherry enfilade from the Picardy region with single drawer and two doors from the late 18th century. This northern French long buffet features a rectangular planked top with rounded edges over a single drawer placed in the centre. This drawer is adorned with a sinuous cartouche surrounding the escutcheon. Two low-relief flowers flanking a diamond are carved directly below the drawer and lead the eye to the lower molded panel. The two doors on each side feature the same paneling style with the addition to delicate rosettes in the upper corners, echoed from the central floral motifs. Each of these doors open to reveal two inner shelves. The ensemble is raised on four short feet, the front ones being scrolled. With its simple lines, delicately carved décor and lovely patina, this French Picarde enfilade from the 1790s will be an elegant choice for any living or dining room.
