Description
A French Reconstruction oak cabinet comprising two sliding doors above two drawers, supported on angled legs. The brass handles are simple and modernist. The whole form is rational and anchored in modernity, emblematic of the post- war design period in France, called the 'French Reconstruction'. In this period, designers met the need to rebuild the country creating simple and practical furniture to satisfy the needs of their users, made of the materials readily available in the post-war period, combining aestheticism, robustness and sobriety, which resulted as a continued source of inspiration for a generation of future designers.

Size: 39 1/2" high x 59" wide x 16 3/4" deep
Babou features European furniture from the 17th century through the 1970’s with an emphasis on classic and iconic Italian and French modernist design. You'll find works by the finest 20th century makers, such as Osvaldo Borsani, Gio Ponti, Mario Bellini, Paolo Buffa, Angelo Mangiarotti, Afra and Tobia Scarpa, Willy Rizzo, as well as pieces which simply exhibit timelessness, great form and beautiful craftsmanship. -
