Description
This very rare sideboard was produced in Italy during the 1950s by a master cabinetmaker. While the exact designer remains unknown, the piece reflects the refined decorative modernism associated with Paolo Buffa and related Milanese designers of the period.
The piece is executed in walnut wood and consists of four doors with inset panels clad in warm caramel-colored leather. An elegant undulating cornice crowns the cabinet, contrasting nicely with the geometric facade. The cabinet stands on gently splayed tapered legs and retains a light appearance despite its substantial size. The piece has two brass keys and escutcheons. The interior is fitted with two shelves, creating four practical storage compartments.
The piece is in good condition with minor signs of age and use consistent with the period. The walnut has developed a warm and natural patina, while the leather shows minor imperfections and wear commensurate with age. Overall, the sideboard presents very well. -
