Description
An interplay of patinas gives this vintage wooden vitrine a unique and intriguing personality. Made in Egypt, the handsome cabinet with its carved cornice and deep paneling is painted a shade of clean white, muted and faded by a patinated finish. The window frames, by contrast – made from salvaged antique doors – have a rougher, more earthy finish; the raw surface of the natural wood is patterned with the residue of original paint layers, creating a nostalgic, lichen-like effect. The elegant iron door handles and the slender metal mechanism which permits the windows to close bear similar marks of age, adding a dark ferrous red to the color palette for an industrial inflection.
