Description
This rare pair of side tables was designed by Carl Malmsten and produced by Carl Löfving & Söner in Tibro, Sweden in the 1960s. The design is part of the iconic ‘Ovalen’ series, referring to the oval shape of the top. The tables are marked/stamped with the manufacturer’s details on the underside of the top.
The tops are oval in shape, in oak, with a smooth flat surface and gently rounded edges. Each table stands on four slender, tapered oak legs that splay outward for a light, graceful stance. The legs meet the top with a subtle carved bracket at the join, a detail typical of Malmsten’s work. The oak has a warm, honey-toned finish and a clean, straight grain throughout. The tables are generously sized, versatile enough for use as side tables or occasional tables.
The tables are in very good, completely original condition with only very minimal wear consistent with age and use. -
