Description
This rare vase was designed by Mari Simmulson and produced by Upsala Ekeby in Sweden in the late 1950s. The vase is part of the iconic ‘Calypso’ series, designed in 1957 and produced for only a short period in the late 1950s. The series consists of eight earthenware bowls and vases with hourglass forms, brown/black geometric relief patterns, and yellow inner layers. The relief texture and bright yellow color create a standout presence.
The vase is deeply stamped on the underside with UE, Sweden, and the model number 7314. The vase is in very good, completely original condition, with minor wear consistent with age and use. -
